An abundance has been stated in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big tax breaks to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However can the internet variation of this traditional game present a salvation, or will it never compare to its land based peer?

Bingo is an familiar game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game lately had witnessed a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo parlours rather than the clubs on a Saturday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti cigarette law around England and Wales.

No more will gamblers be allowed to smoke at the same time marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public location will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most popular locations where many people like to smoke.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo halls. Players have plummeted and the industry is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Surely they have not cast aside this established game?

The answer is online. Players realize that they can participate in bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and fag and still have a chance at monstrous prizes. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.

Of course betting on online can never replace the communal portion of going over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of men and women the rules have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
