Oklahoma has long been interrelated with Bingo. That is owing to the fact that the Native tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for years. Patrons from many of the nearby states load up in vehicles and head over to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a benchmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. Since that time, twenty three of the 39 Indian tribes of Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the gambling restrictions, and today control 10 gambling dens of their very own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling halls were built on. Electronic games such as slot machines weren’t approved, on the grounds that they’re thought to lead to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law have changed to permit enormous Indian gaming casinos. You will now find American Indian gambling halls with slots, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not yet approved in the Amerindian casinos yet, although that is simply a waiting game. No one can say what having other games in the bingo houses will do for the popularity of bingo.
